An implant is basically a biocompatible titanium "root" placed in the jaw by a surgeon working by referral with Dr. Tarantola. A restorative blueprint and plan is designed first to assure the implants will be placed correctly and meet esthetic and functional expectations. The implant heals and integrates with the bone under the gumline over the next 3-6 month period. The patient uses a provisional restoration in this interim period. After this integration period, Dr. Tarantola places an implant "abutment" which connects to the implant. A crown restoration in then created to precisely fit this abutment and bring back the beauty and function of a natural tooth.
